This summer, we’re inviting everyone at SPC to make space for connection by simply gathering round the table.

Whether it’s a cuppa and a biscuit, a sandwich in the park, or a bring-and-share lunch at home, every table can be a place of welcome.

Gather is about keeping hospitality simple, making room for others, and helping us all belong.

Simple Ways to Gather

You don’t need to host a perfect meal or plan something complicated. Start small and keep it simple.

• Invite a few people round after church for a bring-and-share lunch.
• Meet in the park with a sandwich and some friends.
• Plan an after-school picnic tea with other families.
• Invite someone for a cup of tea and biscuits.
• Take a trip to the beach for fish and chips.
• Have a BBQ and ask everyone to bring something.
• Meet for coffee after work.
• Invite someone for dessert rather than a full meal.

Creating a Welcoming Space

Hospitality isn’t about impressing people. It’s about including people.

• Keep it simple.
• Don’t wait for the perfect moment.
• Let others contribute.
• Focus on people, not perfection.
• Think about who might appreciate an invitation.
• Make space for people you know, and people you don’t know so well.

Who Could You Invite?

 Gather is a chance to strengthen existing friendships and build some new ones too. It's easy to spend time with people we already know well, but a simple invitation can also help someone feel seen, welcomed, and connected. This summer, why not invite someone you don't know so well to join you around the table?

Whether it's a cuppa with a couple of people, or gathering a big group, this is about building friendships and community. And if you receive an invitation that's not right for you, it's absolutely fine to politely decline. We want Gather to be a joyful and welcoming opportunity, never an expectation.

What's happening this Summer?

Alongside Gather, there will be church-wide opportunities to spend time together with our summer picnics! Bring along some food and lets enjoy some time together as a whole church.
